The heraldry of Grand Prince Wilhem I of the Reikland, who declared himself Emperor during the Anarchy but who was derided as just another of the "Reikland Pretenders."[1]
Wilhelm I was the Prince of Altdorf and Grand Prince of Reikland in 2276 IC during the final years of the Anarchy who pressed an unrecognised claim to the throne of the Empire of Man. His primary competitors at the time included the Elector Counts Elspeth Magritta VI of Westerland, Sigismund Ulric of Osterlund, and Ludwig XII of Talabec.[1][2]
The Grand Principality of Reikland had long occupied the ancient heartland of the Empire. Within its borders the Cult of Sigmar held sway, yet despite the Sigmarites' political support for them, the princes of Altdorf like Wilhelm I who would claim the title of the Emperor of Man during the Anarchy were never recognised by their fellow Elector Counts and were known derisively by their rivals as the "Reikland Pretenders."[1][2]
Canon Conflict[]
Wilhelm shares a name and ordinal with Wilhelm I, a tyrannical emperor who ruled in the 3rd century IC.
