Warriors of Ulric.
The Warriors of Ulric are not formal regiments, but followers of the Wolf God from many fighting professions united in their service of the Ar-Ulric. As such, they often carry a diverse selection of weaponry and equipment.
Overview[]
Ulric is the God of warriors across the Old World, and initiates of his Cult are expected to make their way in the world by directness, bravery and force of arms. A good number find their calling in formal armies and Mercenary regiments, yet in the Empire there are many wandering fighters seeking adventure, fortune, or simply to honour their patron.[2]
When the Ar-Ulric announces a holy campaign, may of these warriors heed the call, and those able to will make their way to Middenheim to take up the cause. They band together in groups of like-minded souls, frequently using a test of arms or other contest to establish a leader amongst them and a bearer for an agreed icon or standard.[2]
Such a gathering of devout followers of Ulric is inspiring for his Priests. In their fervour, they may even lead a group of such warriors into battle.[2]
End Times[]
Through the dark days of the End Times, the bands of citizen militia known as the Warriors of Ulric swelled Middenheim's ranks. These militia units fought under their own hand-stitched banners, behind leaders they had selected for themselves. Though they had little formal military training, the Wulfenplatz Irregulars and the Drakwald Defenders were determined to hurl the worshippers of Chaos back into the wilds from whence they came.[1a]
