"They talk of destroying the humans, endless ploys to conquer and despoil! Why? Why bother to seize with fang and claw what can so easily be taken with craft and cunning?"

—Thratquee shares his viewpoint with Thanquol[2a]

Thratquee was a Skaven Grey Seer, one of the infamous mage-priests of the Order of the Grey Seers. He was the representative of the Horned Rat in the Skaven settlement of Under-Altdorf, serving on it's Council of Thirteen. He was described as an aged, white-furred Skaven with mismatched horns who carried the scent of a skilled politician. While the other lords of the settlement's council bickered, Thratquee had taken a silent and keen interest in young Thanquol.[1a]

History[]

"Tell him what it is Skabritt sought to find. Tell him more than what you told those fools in Skavenblight."

Thratquee threats Kratch to tell the truth about Grey Seer Skabritt

Thratquee owned a resplendent and well-fortified lair in the under-city, which he invited the Apprentice Grey Seers Kratch and Thanquol to after their arrival. Within the lair, the Grey Seer had maintained many luxuries stolen from the Human city above them. He also had two personal Rat Mothers which were muscular and capable of movement, like a Rat Ogre, though still dim and dull-witted like a typical Rat Mother. These Rat Mothers were used as bodyguards for Thratquee's lair, as no Skaven would ever consider the scent of a Rat Mother threatening. Thratquee also maintained a force of Human slaves and Stormvermin.[2a]

The destiny of the Skaven, as commanded by their deity the Horned Rat, is to envelop the world in death and ruin. However, Thratquee took quite a different view, as he was perfectly content to simply exist with the shadows and seize valuables from the unsuspecting Humans in the city above. He communicated this view to Thanquol, as well as his opinion that the Council of Thirteen lacked vision.[2a]

Thanquol claimed that such statements flirted with heresy, but Thratquee maintained that the Horned One smiled upon cunning and guile. Thratquee expressed no desire to destroy the Humans, for the city of Under-Altdorf, second only to Skavenblight itself, grew fat on the labour and industry of Men. Thratquee explained that he considered himself, and Thanquol, a visionary among the Skaven, far superior to the thirteen Lords of Decay.[2a]

Thratquee commanded Kratch to tell Thanquol the true story of Skabritt's mission, and the fearful adept proceeded to claim that the terrible artefact known as the Wormstone was a weapon of Skaven-make that had been intended to be used against Under-Altdorf, not the Altdorf of Men. After explaining its true purpose as a weapon, Thratquee revealed that the Wormstone could make them masters of the entire Skaven race.[2a]

Thratquee implied that he and Skabritt were partners in this endeavour and that he hoped Thanquol would step into the late Skabritt's shoes to fill that role beside him once more. Hoping to become the new Seer Lord of the Order of the Grey Seers, Thratquee ultimately failed to convince Thanquol to join his schemes, as the younger ratman had his own designs upon greater power.[2a]

Despite being mostly sedentary and behind the scenes during the events of the story, the flooding of Under-Altdorf and the loss of the Wormstone was credited to Thratquee, not Thanquol, who had been a more active agent. Kritislik expressed a desire for Thratquee to take advantage of the "humbling" of Under-Altdorf, using the destruction to cement his own power. The intention was to wrest it away from the Tinker-Rats, who had solidly dominated the politics of the city up until it's flooding.[2a]

Appearance[]

Thratquee was an aged Grey Seer with white fur and old, sunken eyes. He had two horns, both of them mismatched.[3a]
