A depiction of Morr, the god of the dead, in front of the Portal.
The Portal, also called Morr's Gate, is a central motif in the faith of the Cult of Morr of the Old World. The term refers to a pillared gateway guarded by Morr, the god of the dead, through which one can pass from the netherworld into the afterlife.[2a]
Through the portal pass the souls of the dead, whence they are led to their final resting place -- either Morr's Realm or the afterlife of another god.[1a]
Sigmar, during a near-death vision experienced in -9 IC, described the Portal as wide and tall enough to encompass the lands as far as the eye could see, with only absolute darkness swirling behind it.[2a] A figure could be glimpsed in the dark for the briefest moment, the enormous outline of a giant clad in black robes, radiating an aura of serene wisdom.[2b] If an individual passed through the Portal, there would be no turning back to the lands of the living.[2b]
