He recently came to Wheburg, in the Empire, offering a massive sapphire to any team willing to watch his back as he attempted to be the first man alive to climb to the Drakenberg's summit. Razor sharp rocks, the risk of avalanche, and the threat of being eaten, are small prices to pay for such a feat (and the accompanying reward).[1a]
However, despite what he said, Tenzin was actually looking for more than just fame, for he sought to use the climbing party as agents to slay an ancient evil bound to an obelisk in the mountain's summit.[1a]
His name is a reference to Tenzing Norgay, a Nepali Sherpa mountaineer who was one of the first two individuals known to reach the summit of Mount Everest, which he accomplished with Edmund Hillary on 29 May 1953.
