The Temple of Morr and Toteninsel Cemetery
The Temple of Morr dominates Altdorf's Toteninsel district. The huge stone building, adorned with all manner of Gargoyles and topped by a spired bell tower, is one of the most impressive religious edifices in the city, second only to the Holy Temple of Sigmar.[1a][2a]
The temple is the centre of Morrite religious practice in Altdorf. At sunrise and sunset every day its mourning bells ring to remind the burghers that death is ever present. Those in the temple, however, need not be reminded, because the Cult of Morr receives a steady trickle of corpses. The sanctuary hosts funerals daily.[1a]
A great solemn mass is held in the temple twice-yearly on Geheimnisnacht and Hexensnacht. Worshippers bearing candles and black roses of Morr fill the plain stone pews in the nave.[1a]
In the temple close are the local headquarters of the Order of the Shroud and barracks of the Black Guard of Morr. The latter group are responsible for guarding the temple and its grounds and dealing with the occasional Undead creature.[1a]
Tillman Sterte is the head of the Order of the Shroud in Altdorf. The man is not a natural prelate, but his position requires constant meetings with other cults and civic authorities. This burden has sent him into a constant state of depression, and he often neglects his administrative duties.[1a]
Asser Weitz, nicknamed the "White Knight" because of his pale appearance, is the dour leader of the Black Guard in Altdorf.[1a]
There are secret catacombs beneath the temple.[1a]
Canon Conflict[]
According to Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2nd Edition: Spires of Altdorf, the Temple of Morr is located just a few blocks from the Amethyst College. In Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4th Edition: Altdorf - Crown of the Empire, however, the temple and the college are in completely different districts of Altdorf.
