The Empire of Man as it was during the Anarchy in ca. 2276 IC when there was no de jure emperor but multiple claimants all vying for the throne. The major claimants for the throne at this time included Elspeth Magritta VI of Westerland, Ludwig XII of Talabec, Sigismund Ulric of Osterlund, and Wilhelm I of Reikland.[2]
Talabec, officially the Grand Duchy of Talabec, was a Grand Province of the Empire of Man that existed during the period of civil war and political decentralisation known as the Anarchy.[1][2]

Talabec under the rule of Grand Duke Ludwig XII was the largest yet most disparate of the Grand Provinces to have arisen from the ashes of the Empire during that era of civil war, and was renowned during his reign for harbouring numerous witches, warlocks and secretive guilds. The realm in ca. 2276 IC was a vast territory of loosely-allied states that included the territories of the future Grand Provinces of Talabecland, Stirland, parts of Ostermark, the Mootland and the remnants of accursed Sylvania.[1][2][3a]
Ludwig XII had an outstanding claim to the throne of the fractured Empire in the final years of the Anarchy as one of the Ottilian Emperors. He had several rivals for the Imperial throne among the other Elector Counts, such as Elspeth Magritta VI of Westerland, Sigismund Ulric of Osterlund, and Wilhelm I of Reikland, though in that period power relations and rivalries for the throne were constantly shifting.[1][2]
The Grand Duchy of Talabec broke up into its component Electoral Provinces at some time before the Great War Against Chaos began in 2301 IC.
State Army Uniforms[]

An Empire Archer of the Grand Duchy of Talabec's State Army during the Anarchy in ca. 2276 IC. Also shown is a full plate armour breastplate, the heraldry of Talabec and a halberd head all in Talabec's chosen colours.
Dressed in the state colours of yellow and red, the soldiers of Talabecland's State Army were a sight to behold when arrayed for battle during the Anarchy. This bright display is not shared by Talabheim itself however, as the Grand Duchy's capital city adorned its warriors instead in a livery of red and white.
Talabecland is renowned for its experienced woodsmen and expert archers, who often wear dark overcoats of brown or black to combat the weather and aid them in staying hidden whilst tracking their quarry -- be that a prized buck or a herd of vile Beastmen.
