A sunstone is an artefact used to see the sun on overcast days. If watched closely, specks of light can be seen within the stone.[1a] High Elves use sunstones of various colours. For example, blue sunstones can be used to embellish weapons or jewellery.[4a][4b]
A sunstone was used by the Tilean genius Leonardo da Miragliano to create his Sunbox, a wondrous invention devised to generate perpetual, mechanically-created sunlight.[3]
Ostland Sunstone[]
Judging by the runes carved in the "Sunstone" in the wilderness of Ostland, the ancient Beastmen Beastlord Gorthor launched his invasion under the midsummer sun. The assembled horde of Beastmen blackened the horizon with Gorthor at its head. His invasion at the time of the Crusades all but destroyed the Imperial provinces of Ostland and Hochland, and his name can still be found on some of the most ancient herdstones across the region.[2a]
