Stirland v2

Stirland

The Grand County of Stirland lies towards the center of the Empire with Reikland to the west, Talabecland to the north, Ostermark to the east and Averland to the South. Stirland is a rugged highlands province mixing both fame and a reputation for being a rural backwater. In the east is the terrifying Sylvania, with its misty enchanted forests and ancient castles, dark resting on the craggy peaks like vultures looking black people to their feet. Sylvania is a place that most Stirlandeses prefers to forget.

Overview

The County is governed by Alberich Haupt-Anderssen from Wurtbad City (on the banks of the River Stir), and it is said that at the tender age of 16 he can not govern Stirland. Of course, do not say it in his presence. Alberich, a stalwart Sigmarite, does not support the followers of Ulric, so that all his government positions are held by followers of the faith in Sigmar. When he ascended to power after the death of his father (which he maintains he was a plot of Ulricans), he replaced the few followers of Ulric remaining in office and with people he could trust. Of course, in the background, Stirlander has always had a dislike for Ulric, and even more people disliked Talabecland (something that comes along, from the Age of Three Emperors). Alberich antipathies are not exactly softened by his chief advisor, Hergare Bardin, a priest of Sigmar with very traditional views (as the name "sound Dwarf ") that has been feeding the young and impressionable minds with visions of a "pure" Stirland. Bardin has whispered in their ears many times that Sigmar hates mutants, and Halflings are not much more than that, and therefore should not be allowed to stay in the place of one of the most famous battles of Sigmar, Western Plains of Stirland. Bardin has also recommended that the followers of ulric living near the border with Talabecland be "relocated" elsewhere, and repopulate the area with Sigmarites families. All this is what Alberich has heard ... He has not always been very happy with the Halflings of the Assembly and the land they occupy, and never liked the followers of Ulric or Talabecland people. Just a matter of time before the young Graf convince Bardin to transform those words into action. Virtually all of Stirland is basically farms, and small villages, with very little major city or urban areas.

Military

Wary of strangers, the bloodline of Stirlandeses is one of the least diluted the Empire. They are superstitious people, but also are cautious, quiet, thoughtful and patient. They are also tight, suspicious, intolerant and narrow-minded. For them, "if something works from the

past, does not make sense to change it now." They have absurd and barbarous customs to the other inhabitants of the Empire such as drinking warm beer. They keep a great resentment towards Halflings over losing their best lands to create the Assembly nearly a thousand years ago. Sylvanian people however are serious, never laugh, very superstitious and fatalistic. Stirland is a poor province with rustic customs that support many of the penalties that led wars against Vampire. Her soldiers, as citizens, are poor and their weapons and armor are pretty simple. In fact, many of the troops Stirland state can not afford to keep green and yellow uniforms, and only carry a symbolic gesture for their traditional uniform. The rural nature of Stirland, and constant mockery of its inhabitants, are not to be confused with weak Stirland soldiers. In battle, they are still as devoted and fierce as any Imperial soldier.

Although students of Stirland always emphasize pure blood coming Unberogen, the reality is that its roots back to the Unberogens, Talabecs and Fennone. It is normal for a province to worship Sigmar, but Stirland often openly rejects the other gods and worship Sigmar alone, however they still have an amount of tolerance to other gods. While religious tolerance is an unwritten law in the Empire, but Stirland is where other religions are tolerated but less so.

History

  • One of the biggest battles of the time of Sigmar land was made in Stirland. It was the first time that all human tribes of what would be the Empire fought together and defeated a vast horde goblinoid. Even today one can find traces of that battle.
  • In the year 1000 according to the Imperial Calendar, Ludwig the Fat made in a document Halflings Real that could occupy a small part of Stirland: the Assembly. Halflings also gained administrative autonomy and even a vote Imperial (Ancient vote of the Assembly has as much as an Elector Count). When, in the year 1152 the council ended in stalemate Elector, Grand Duke of Talabecland raised an army and entered Stirland. Thus began the Age of Wars and Empire was plunged into a civil war for the next 200 years.
  • In 1359 the Grand Count of Stirland was elected Emperor in Nuln. In response, the Grand Duchess of Talabecland declared herself Empress Talabheim no choice. The Emperor tried Talabheim declare war, but also Middenheim the conflict erupted. In 2145, the Battle of Hell Fenn saw the end of the Age of Vampires and, according to the chronicles of the time, it was the Count Martin of Stirland which ended with the Lord of the Vampires, Carstein Mannfred. Thus the Sylvania claimed Stirland Conde. No one objected (of course nobody wanted those cursed lands).
