"You will have his head before the night is ended, Warlord."

— Assassin Adept Sneek promising Warlord Glut he will kill Werner Grunhelm, the Human Engineer.

Sneeq Foulblade was a Skaven Eshin Assassin dispatched from Clan Eshin to fulfill a contract between his clan and Clan Famin. Clan Famin's ruling Skaven Warlord, an obese ratman named Glut, tasked Foulblade with killing several key Human targets and retrieving the head of Werner Grunhelm, the Human engineer who had designed weapons that threatened Glut's plans to take over the Human settlement. Glut also wanted these weapons to sell to Clan Skryre for many warptokens.

Unfortunately, Foulblade also ran afoul of the vengeful designs of the Grey Seer Qik, who wanted Grunhelm for himself to gain his own vengeance upon Glut for a prior betrayal of his own plans.

History[]

Thought it began as a simple enough job, Foulblade's kill-contract was complicated when a Grey Seer, Qik, assigned to the clan by the Council of Thirteen pulled Foulblade aside with his own threats and demands. He wanted Werner Grunhelm for his own revenge against Warlord Glut and would kill Foulblade if the Human died before the Grey Seer was allowed to claim his vengeance.[1]

Caught between the Clan Famin's massive warlord and the furious Grey Seer, Foulblade decided to dupe the warlord as it was the most likely path to saving his own skin. He planned to give Glut a Human that was similar to but not actually the engineer he sought. Grunhelm, once captured, would be delivered to Qik as the Grey Seer demanded, so that the mage-rat could personally see to the Human's death.[1]

However, Foulblade did not anticipate treachery within his own ranks. Skulk Fellpaw, one of his lesser Gutter Runners, had been sent to deliver the decoy head and suffer the punishment for the fraud, should Glut realize it wasn't what he paid for. However, upon crossing paths with his underling, Fellpaw tossed the decoy aside and tried to kill Werner Grunhelm for his own gain. He did succeed in causing the engineer's death, but Foulblade killed his treacherous underling himself before the diminutive ratman could benefit from it.[1]

Grunhelm's death meant that the Eshin Assassin would have to contend with the Grey Seer's rage and likely face his own demise. Cutting the head off the engineer's body, Foulblade returned to Warlord Glut to complete his mission and display the beheaded Human. Glut used the Grey Seer to confirm that the head did indeed belong to Werner Grunhelm. The warlord proceeded to eat the head and rallied his Clanrats for the victory to come against the Human settlement he had targetted.

In the middle of this speech, however, the warlord suddenly collapsed and died. As he did, Foulblade surreptitiously twitcheed a whisker at Glut's corpse. The Grey Seer caught on to the assassin's intent immediately. Qik proclaimed treachery on the part of the Human, goading the Clanrats of Clan Famin into a vengeful fervour. The other high-ranking Skaven scrambled to take Glut's place as warlord and in the confusion and madness, Qik approached the Eshin Assassin.[1]

Foulblade revealed he secreted a Warpstone Star in Grunhelm's mouth, which would need to be removed as the poison would eventually eat through Warlord Glut's corpse, revealing the scheme. Qik assured the assassin that his Skavenslaves would see to it, and that Foulblade and Clan Eshin would be well-compensated with Warpstone Tokens after Clan Famin's attack on the Human settlement. Secretly, Foulblade had taken several valuable scrolls from Engineer Grunhelm's tent, ensuring that one way or another, he was sure to be paid by Clan Skryre, even if the Grey Seer's word proved worthless.[1]
