"I will set you free, mighty Daemon. Slayer in steel. Spiller of blood. Feaster of souls. Fury of the razor’s edge... But not today."

— Archaon, speaking to the Daemon within the Slayer of Kings
End Times- Archaon

The thirteenth Everchosen Archaon wielding the Slayer of Kings.

The Slayer of Kings, sometimes simply called The Slayer, was a Daemonsword created by Vangel, the second Everchosen of Chaos. It was imbued with the soul of U'zhul, a powerful Daemon of Khorne. The sword was barbed and curved, glowing with the fury of the being trapped inside of it.[1a]

The crossguard bore steel fangs and the pommel a large, smooth crystal at its end. The guard of the sword was shaped like the Star of Chaos. Within this orb was the yellow eye of U'zhul, glaring at its wielder with a bottomless hatred. However, despite this emnity, U'zhul could not turn the blade's awesome power on its wielder.[1a]

The thirteenth Everchosen, Archaon, is the current wielder of the Slayer of Kings, led to it by the Daemon Z'guhl the Skullreaper. Originally agreeing to free U'zhul upon finding it, Archaon revealed he had never specified a time in which he was to free the Daemon, declining to release the Skulltaker when he finally discovered the blade.[1a][1b]

During the End Times, the sword was shattered by the lightning strikes of Azyr during the final confrontation of the Incarnates of the Winds of Magic with the thirteenth Everchosen. Robbed of the stolen strength of the Greater Daemon, Archaon was overpowered by the god Sigmar, who had possessed the mortal body of the Emperor Karl Franz, and was thrown into the chasm of the Chaos Gate he had attempted to open.[4a]

Canon Conflict[]

The Daemon U'zhul bound within the Slayer of Kings shares its name with U'Zhul the Skulltaker, another powerful Daemon of Khorne. These Daemons seem to be different entities, however, as the Daemon within the Slayer of Kings is described as a Greater Daemon and remained bound in the Daemonsword even after the end of the mortal world, while the Skulltaker, a Herald of Khorne, walked the world freely.
