Warhammer Slavin Kurnz

The Kislevite Chaos Lord Slavin Kurnz, as seen in the "Trail by Fire" trailer for Total War: Warhammer III.

Slavin Kurnz was a boyar of Kislev and the former commander of the Kislevite citadel of Dervingard in the far north of that realm before he was corrupted by the Ruinous Powers and became a mighty Chaos Lord of Khorne. Kurnz was slain during the events of Total War: Warhammer III by Prince Yuri Barkov, who would go on to become corrupted by Chaos himself and become the Daemon Prince of Chaos Undivided known as the Godslayer. History[]

Horde of Kurnz

The heraldry of the Horde of Kurnz, the Fallen Boyar's Warriors of Chaos army in Total War: Warhammer III.[2]

When the citadel was retaken by a Kislevite expedition commanded by Prince Yuri Barkov, Barkov discovered what had happened to the fortress' former commander by reading his journal in the boyar's private chamber. A darkness had taken hold of the boyar, his iron will turning into a lust for power.[1a]

Kurnz abandoned his post and fled north, killing those among his troops who tried to stop him and hanging them upon the walls of the citadel. Determined to see the end of this road, Barkov marched northward, despite the pleas of Gerik Barkov, his younger brother and advisor, to turn away from this path. All of Barkov's troops began to fear the consequences of commander's decision.[1a]

Slavin Kurnz appeared at the end of this dark road where he had become a Khornate Chaos Lord who now commanded a large army of Chaos Marauders and the Warriors of Chaos. Yet even with this force, Kurnz could not hope to stand before the forces of Yuri Barkov, who overwhelmed them. With his death, Kurnz held Barkov move one step closer along the road to his ultimate damantion...[1a]

Trivia[]

Slavin Kurnz may very well be the same character that was shown within the Trail by Fire trailer for Total War: Warhammer III shown above, where an un-named Kislevite boyar turned to the service of the Dark Gods. This is because the model of Slavin Kurnz in the game bears a striking resemblance to the boyar shown within the trailer itself.
