Not to be confused with Skabreach, another Skaven hold, approximately one hundred miles south from Middenheim within the Empire that shares the same name and was the initial site infected by the Black Plague, leading to its rapid spread throughout the Under-Empire.[2a]

Skabreach is a poor Skaven warren, an outpost belonging to Clan Skab that extends beneath the lands of Estalia. A filthy network of half-empty tunnels burrowing beneath the blazing heat of the Estalian sun made its excavation particularly hard.[1a]

Here a small Skaven colony struggles for survival, primarily involved in chow-rat breeding and fungus farming. Skabreach is intricately linked to the broader Under-Empire through its port situated along a subterranean river. In contrast to more prosperous settlements of the ratmen adorned with warpstone lanterns, Skabreach relies on the feeble illumination of dung burnt in ratskin lanterns.[1a]

The Skaven inhabitants of Skabreach live in perpetual fear of discovery, rarely daring to venture to the surface where Human knights covered in steel plate armour patrol the area.[1a]

History[]

After the Battle of Nuln and his exploits in Lustria, Grey Seer Thanquol arrived at Skabreach on his way back to Skavenblight, venting his frustration on the locals for more than three weeks. Ultimately securing passage on a barge, Warlord Ibkikk Snatchclaw insisted he stay and fight the Estalian knights. Cornered, Thanquol incinerated the warlord before making a swift departure.[1a]

Notable Inhabitants[]

  • Weezil Gutgnaw - A senior member of Clan Skurvy, Gutgnaw overseers Skabreach's port and shipping operations.[1a]
