"With all due respect to your temple, and your position, inquisitor, I believe that the Ruinous Powers are more insidious than you give them credit for. There are entire nations that bow before them in the north, beyond the Sea of Claws and the Troll Country. In every dark place in the Empire, and even here in the valleys of Tilea, twisted, malformed things cry out to them from their filthy lairs. Why then, with so many, do these Powers relentlessly try to seduce men from civilised lands to their vile worship?’... ‘It is because we know what evil is,’ he stated. ‘What does a Norse reaver know of evil? He has been born into the profane worship of the Dark Gods, taught from the cradle to honour and respect them, to pray to them and serve them. It is all that he knows, he has never known any other way. But a man from Luccini, or Tobaro, or Pavona, such a man knows what good is, and has been taught to recognise evil. Because he must be brought into the service of the Dark Gods from without, he sees them for what they are, he has a greater understanding of what they represent. He knows what good is, what decency and humanity are, and he rejects them in exchange for the dark promises of the Ruinous Powers. And because he has made this choice, because he has polluted his soul with his own hands, he has greater value to them."

—Scurio to Inquisitor Gualtiero Bocca[1a]

Scurio was an unfortunate priest of Morr from Remas.[1a]

History[]

He was captured by corsairs and taken to Martek, where he was subjected to constant torture for months. he managed to escape from the terrible grottoes and caverns under the palace of Martek. But his mind was broken, and, desperate, surrendered to Khorne. Once back in Remas he tried to live a normal life, but his experiences in Araby were so stark that he cannot refrain from killing when the influence of Khorne grasp his soul.[1a]

Thanks to this condition, he had a key role in Corvino's revenge. In fact, the man was used as a means to guide the Mardagg, a greater daemon of the Blood God, into the material plane.[1a] During a dark ritual in the crypt of the Temple of Morr, the dead body of Alfredo Gambini was found next to that of the priest, reduced to a ripped cloth of flesh. Thanks to a tattoo, it was possible for Brunner the Bounty Hunter to be paid by Prince Bensario of Pavona, who was searching for a murderer with that exact tattoo.[1b]
