Santa Bernadette is located in the Southern Littoral of Estalia, southwest of Porto Real, among the last thickets of green islets before the bony expanses of the bare atolls and daggers that emerge at the edge of the Known Land and herald the great, dark oceans of the mysterious west.[1a]
The freeport of Santa Bernadette is one of the few places assumed in a first moment to be free from the raids of the Butcher Ship in the island chain of the Estalian Littoral. Or at least the only place of any real size.[1a]
It is reachable by a bay too shallow even for small ships, lay the inner curve of the dense, green island. Between sea and jungle lay a stripe of whitewashed buildings.[1a]
The village has an old blockhouse, built of timber and mudbrick, and crumbling white plaster.[1a]
In order to survive the raids of recent years, the natives filled the village with traps and armed themselves with spears, hatchets and machetes. their skin painted black with skeletal motifs in imitation of Morr's depictions. Their charge is punctuated by the sound of tribal drums.[1a]
These expedients were designed to prevent the Butcher Ship from asking for its tribute again like every new moon, unfortunately due to a bad luck, Luka Silvaro's fleet almost totally exterminated the citizens leaving alive the survivors including a priest of Sigmar who arrived there for expand faith in his God.[1b]
