The Sínann-Torr, called "Firestones" by the Beastmen, are ageless Waystones spread across the great forest of Athel Loren, described by the Wood Elf Spellweaver Naieth the Prophetess as "echoes of a previous world." [1b]
It is unknown who created the Sínann-Torr, or how many of them exist. The runes carved into them were born of an intelligence that bore no relation to that of the Elves.[1b] The Dryad Drycha claimed that the Sínann-Torr predated the gods themselves.[1a] Only a handful of Spellweavers dedicated themselves to their study, among them Naieth.[1b] They form a network called the "Dark Paths," which allow those who know about them to cross large distances within Athel Loren in the span of an hour.
In the hands of a powerful spellcaster, the Sínann-Torr allow a being to make a pact with the forest, similar to the one made in ancient times by the Asrai.[1b]
It was unknown how many of the Sínann-Torr existed within Athel Loren, but the key stone, called Torr-Ildána, was located within the Vault of Winter.[1b] Others include:
- Torr-Goholoth, near the King's Glade
- Torr-Maloch
- Torr-Dobár
- Torr-Cirrus
