Rifraffa, also mistakenly sometimes spelled Riffraffa,[5a] is a Tilean coastal village controlled by the Republic of Remas, famous as the site of the Battle of Rifraffa.[1a][2a][3][4a]
History[]
Battle of Rifraffa[]
"We never had a chance sir. They came out of nowhere. Before we could turn they were in among us, shouting their chilling battle-cries as they cut us down. It's true we ran from them sir, but these were not men - they were demons on horseback."
- —The Mercenary Gunter Frieshiem, explaining his part in the infamous Rout of Rifraffa.[1a]
In this battle, also known as the "Rout of Rifraffa" by the defeated force, Al Muktar's Desert Dogs routed an army of mercenaries, including Gunter Friesheim.[1a]
Fell Mist[]
"There are whispers that there is one vessel lurking at the heart of the fog. A few even whisper that it is the foul Skaven, capturing good folk for who knows what purpose. If you could discover the truth, you would be rewarded by the town, but you'd be a braver man than me."
- —Sergeant Capello[2b]
In 2517 IC, an unnatural fog appeared to the north of Rifraffa in the Bay of Remas. Ships that sailed into it never seemed to emerge on the other side.[2b]
There were whispers of a vessel lurking at the heart of the fog. Some even claimed it was the foul Skaven, capturing good folk for an unknown purpose. Those who could uncover the truth would be rewarded by the town, but they would have been braver than the local militia.[2b]
The fog was actually the magical work of a Skaven Grey Seer, and when his Doombringer was sunk the mist disappeared with him.[2b]
