The crest of the pirates of Sartosa
The Pirate Princess of Sartosa is the actual ruler of the city-state of Sartosa.[4a]
In Sartosa it is custom to elect a Pirate Prince of Sartosa. This is a rather grandiose title for one who does not really rule, but just settles disputes over loot with rough justice. Many such “Princes” have come and gone in the centuries up to the present time. Most have come to a very sticky end one way or another! The longest lasting has been the present notorious Pirate Princess of Sartosa, no doubt because her reputation for being ten times more cruel than any of her predecessors is no exaggeration![1b]
History[]
The Pirate Princess of Sartosa have succeeded Princess Red Maria and Manlect the Obese after their premature demises.[2a][3a][3b]
An apocryphal tale says that Borgio the Besieger was once taken prisoner by the Pirate Princess of Sartosa and escaped by diving into the sea from the dungeon tower, which was conveniently leaning over a high cliff, and swam the Pirates' Current across to Tilea. Then he returned with a mercenary fleet, captured the princess and would not let her go until the pirates had paid him an enormous tribute gathered from their far-flung stashes of plunder. If this ever happened it must have been early in his career.[1a]
Trivia[]
The actual name of the Pirate Princess of Sartosa has never been revealed by any official source material.
