Prince Perian of Valaste was a contestant in the Tournament of the Everqueen's Champion. According to Atharis Emeraldsea, Perian is very good with a blade, "and fancies himself a wit, too". He further marks the Elf as unpleasant, and when pressed by Tyrion, explained that he was vain, arrogant, spoiled - a veritable paragon of Elven flaws. If Atharis had to pick one Elf to exemplify all that was bad about their people, it would be Perian.[1a]

However, of all the combatants that Tyrion would face in the Tournament, both Perian and Arhalien of Yvresse were the most likely to rival his swordsmanship.[1a]
