Dwarf Lord Oath Stone

A Dwarf Lord standing upon an Oathstone while directing his forces in battle.

Oathstones, also spelled Oath Stones, are sculpted stone talismans that represent a Dwarf warrior's oath to their clan and their ancestors that they will uphold their honour in battle with their deeds. The Dwarf, usually a high-ranking Dwarf Lord or clan thane, will stand atop the Oath Stone as they direct their forces in battle.

When a Dwarf goes to war they carry the honour of their clan and their hold with them. It is a matter of personal pride that the Dwarf will do them credit or not return at all. To demonstrate this intent they will take an Oathstone with them on campaign. This is a carefully sculpted plinth upon which the lineage and deeds of its owner are carved.[1a]

By standing atop an Oathstone, a Dwarf Lord or thane will increase the resolve of their followers and ensure that all foes can find them in the midst of the scrum of battle.[2a]
