Nehekharan chronometer

A nehekharan construct to measure time

The Nehekharan Calendar is the dating system used in the ancient civilization of Nehekhara. It marks one of the first calendars of Men used in the world.

Dating system[]

The ancient Nehekharans followed a twelve-years cycle dedicated to the gods. For example, the 44th year of Khsar the Faceless corresponds to -1968 IC.[1a] Gods that are part of this cycle are Ptra, Khsar, Ualatp, Tahoth, Qu'aph, Asaph, Djaf, Geheb, Basth, Phakth and Usirian. The length of the individual years of a cycle, as well as separations in months and weeks, remain unknown. Since their return as undead, this dating system appears to have fallen out of favor.

On a more local basis, rulers used regnal years to chronicle their deeds, and dynasties to track their line (for example, the Living City of Khemri had six dynasties before the Great Ritual).[2a] These chronicles varied from city to city.

The Reign of a Million Years[]

The Reign of a Million Years refers to the rule of Settra, the king of kings among the reanimated Tomb Kings. Since Nagash's ritual, the Liche Priests have used the dates of Settra's reign to track the time, compiling great annals in scrolls and the walls of the Necropolis.[2a] Individual dynasts continue to use their own regnal years since their awakening, but most of these are in conflict with their descendants or ancestors who now all claim the same city.[2a]

The Reign of a Million Years roughly begins in -1150 IC[2a]/ -1151 IC.[2b]
