"The Preserved Dead are corpses that have been carefully embalmed and preserved prior to being reanimated. The Tomb Kings, Tomb Princes, and Tomb Guard of Nehekhara are counted among the Preserved Dead."
- —The Preserved Dead of Nehekhara.[2]

An Undead mummy warrior as depicted in concept art for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning.[1a]
A mummy, also known as the "Preserved Dead," are intelligent Undead raised from the corpses of ancient Human warriors from Nehekhara and Araby whose corpses were wrapped in funeral linens and embalmed to prevent decay.[1a]
Role[]
Many of the oldest civilisations of Humans in the Known World, most notably those of Araby and the great southern empire of Nehekhara, interred their dead thrpugh the process of mummification. With the rise of the Great Necromancer Nagash and his cursed art, many of these preserved dead were disturbed from their rest and animated as Undead.[1a]
Unlike the more mindless Undead, such as Skeletons and Zombies, Mummies are always intelligent and possess a will of their own. Indeed, their will is so strong they can command lesser forms of Undead to do their bidding. The few mummies that dwell in the territory of the Empire are content to lie still in their sarcophagi until something disturbs their rest.[1a]
When they rise, they swiftly crush anything that stirs them from their dreamless slumber before returning to their tomb. There are a few, though, that retain the agendas they had in life, which can make them terrible and implacable foes. Most mummies who engage in combat are usually armed as they were in life. Weapons and armour that have survived untarnished down the long ages with a mummy are doubtless magical in nature.[1a]
