Morath of Mourkain was once a formerly powerful Necromancer and former courtier to King Ushoran of Strigos. He was best known for aiding King Ushoran in fighting back the Greenskin tide before Ushoran's sister, Queen Neferata of former Lahmia betrayed his cause and saw Strigos destroyed.[1a] His last act before the fall was retrieving the Crown of Sorcery and bringing it northwards towards the Middle Mountains of the primeval Empire, where there he stood within Brass Keep for centuries before Emperor Sigmar killed him and took the Crown of Sorcery for himself.[2a]
