Marco Polare was a Tilean explorer, merchant and adventurer who in 1247 IC reached Grand Cathay, and wrote of spying the Skaven under the great city of Weijin.[1a][3a]
Polare's writings about the Far East included many of the legends of Grand Cathay, including stories of immortal eunuch sorcerers that drank the souls of Men, which may have been a reference to the Jade-Blooded, the lost bloodline of Vampires possibly founded by the Vampire Lord Maatmeses or Harakhte, two of the Vampire officials of the ancient Nehekharan city-state of Lahmia.[2a]
Polare also wrote of the warrior-mystics of Cathay.[3a] The unarmed combat techniques they used that were described within Polare's works were noted by Helmut van Hal to be similar to the ones used by the Skaven Clan Eshin's Eshin Assassins.[3a]
Polare also recorded tales from the jungles of Ind and the Southlands about mad priests who tear out Men's hearts to feed to their Dark Gods.[2a]
