Map Southlands 1

A map of the Southlands. Mangrove Port is located somewhere along the Shifting Mangrove Coastline in the eastern Southlands.

Mangrove Port is a Human colony the size of a fishing village located in the eastern Southlands on the Shifting Mangrove Coastline.[1a][1c]

Mangrove Port was an outpost and a beacon for adventurers, criminals, pirates and treasure hunters of all stripes and backgrounds. Its foundations had been sunk centuries ago by explorers from Grand Cathay, since then it has changed hands numerous times, from Araby to Tilea to Estalia. At the dawn of the 26th century IC, it was at least nominally under the jurisdiction of the Empire of Man.[1a]

Recently the settlement was attacked and almost completely destroyed by a raid perpetrated by Undead creatures.[1b]

Geography[]

Mangrove Port rests at the mouth of an eddy in one of the rivers that cut through the mangroves, where it pooled and grew deep enough to allow sailing ships to anchor. The port itself sits on a vast hummock that is one of the few true patches of dry ground anywhere along the Shifting Mangrove Coastline.[1d]

The whole area is defended by a small palisade with no gate; instead, a heavy door has been built into the wall where it curved over a chunk of ossified wood and rock, creating a natural incline. The door was as wide as three men, but not tall enough to dissuade attackers.[1d]
