Magnar
Magnar was a Norscan marauder who led a ship of cruel raiders that was ultimately done in by a cursed treasure they seized from a passing Tilean merchantman.[1a]
After being betrayed by Lorenzo Lupo, the Prince of Luccini, who had hired him as a mercenary without paying him, he decided that he would take his due by raiding merchant ships en route between the Tilean Sea and Araby.[1a]
Blessed with good fortune, a Tilean merchant ship fell victim of his crew, after an easy slaughter he believed to be blessed by the Dark Gods given the value of the Arabyan gold coins the freighter kept in its hold. Now dying, the merchant who owned the vessel warned Magnar that this was gold stolen from the tomb of a sultan of Araby, cursed and destined to bring death and madness to whoever possessed it.[1a]
Magnar was not intimidated by the words of the dying Tilean and sank his ship, but shortly after the Norscan ascertained that the man was telling the truth. For Magnar, in the grip of a blind fury, killed his own men who wanted throw the supposedly cursed gold overboard.[1a]
Magnar was later slain by a group of pirates from Sartosa which took his treasure with them.[1a]
