The world map included in White Dwarf #300, with Lumbria pointed at on the northeastern corner.[1]
Lumbria is a fabled region reputed to lie in the Far Sea, to the east of Cathay and Nippon and to the west of Naggaroth and the Boiling Sea.[1]
In Cathay, there is an ancient relic weapon known as the Jade Blade of the Great Fleet, fashioned from the fang of a Lumbrian sea monster. The creature's regenerative powers are transferred to the blade's wielder, continually healing them.[3]
Lemuria[]
It is unclear whether this land is the same as Lemuria, the place of origin of the ferocious Giant Pygmies who sometimes offer their services as mercenaries to the Ogre Kingdoms.[2a]
Game History[]
Lumbria was originally mentioned only in the world map included in White Dwarf #300 (UK Edition), released in December 2004. It was mentioned again in Total War: Warhammer III, 18 years later.
Trivia[]
Given its approximate location in the Far Sea and its "fabled" description, it might have been intended to represent Australia in the Warhammer Fantasy Battles universe.
Lemuria was also the name of a hypothetical lost land located in either the Indian or the Pacific Ocean, from a now-discredited 19th-century scientific theory.
