Ludwig XII was the Grand Duke of Talabec in ca. 2276 IC who had an outstanding claim to the throne of the fractured Empire of Man in the final years of the Anarchy as one of the Ottilian Emperors. He had several rivals for the Imperial throne among the other Elector Counts, such as Elspeth Magritta VI of Westerland, Sigismund Ulric of Osterlund, and Wilhelm I of Reikland.[1][2]
Talabec under Ludwig XII's rule was the largest yet most disparate of the Great Provinces to have arisen from the ashes of the Empire during that era of civil war, and was renowned during his reign for harbouring numerous witches, warlocks and secretive guilds. The realm in 2276 IC included the territories of the future Grand Provinces of Talabecland, Stirland, Averland, Wissenland and the Mootland.[1][2]
