Little Grom is one of the remaining great Kislevite cannons known as "the Thunderers." It is pulled into position by a sled and a pair of War Bears across a magical carpet of ice intended to lower the friction of the ground so that the gun can more easily pass.

"Little Grom" is a massive blackpowder cannon employed by the armies of Kislev. It is one of the last of the remaining Thunderers, twelve cannons forged over two centuries ago to help defend Kislev from the assault of Chaos during the Great War Against Chaos that began in 2301 IC.[1]

While having cannons towed by mere packhorses and pushed into place by their gunners might be good enough for the Empire, the unforgiving nature of war in the frozen north demands a more hardy approach. Instead of horses, the giant gun affectionately named "Little Grom" is towed by two mighty War Bears atop a magical carpet of ice -- nearby Kislevites are so emboldened by its majesty that they fight even harder than usual in its presence.[1]

History[]

Kislev is not known for the use of massed blackpowder artillery. In fact, at many points throughout its history, the boyar and druzhina nobility have been expressly forbidden from maintaining their own in order to safeguard the power of the crown.

However, in the reign of Tzar Alexis Romanoff, a dozen new cannons were commissioned, under the orders that "their roar would drown out the hordes of Chaos like the thunder of gods." "The Thunderers," as they were known, made a great difference in the battles of the Great War Against Chaos that eventually saw the legions of Chaos thrown back into the Chaos Wastes. By the time the fighting was over, most of the twelve Thunderers were lost...but a precious few remain to serve the Motherland in its times of need.[1]
