Liepmund

Graf Liepmund Holzkrug, High Lord Ambassador of the Reikland Council [2]

Graf Liepmund Holzkrug is the High Lord Ambassador of the Reikland Council in ca. 2512 IC. In this position, he has dual roles as the man in charge of Reikland's foreign relations and head of the Altdorf Black Chamber spy ring.[1a][2] He is also the current head of House Holzkrug.[2]

Graf Holzkrug is a ruthless and vindictive politician with a fierce ambition. The House of Holzkrug have long been local rivals with the Holswig-Schliesteins, the line of current Emperor and Grand Prince of Altdorf Karl Franz.[1a] Today this manifests itself in Liepmund's rivalry with Immanuel-Ferrand Holswig-Schliestein, Karl Franz's uncle.[2] Liepmund Holzkrug is also a noted enthusiast of rare game hunting.[1a]

Turmoil of 2512[]

During the Turmoil of 2512 IC, Holzkrug sought to destabilise the Empire out of spite towards the Holswig-Schliestein family. He wanted to make sure that the Jungfreud family of Ubersreik remained under suspicion, not because he had any great enmity for them, but because the more he succeeds in bringing them into conflict with the emperor, the worse it will be for the emperor in the long run.[3]

He privately arranged that falsified evidence of Jungfreud's insubordination should not be uncovered by the emperor's agents, while publicly he condemned the hasty takeover of Ubersreik. Holzkrug believed that his aide-de-camp, Yann Zuntermein, shared his aims. Little did he know that Yann was the head of the Purple Hand Chaos Cult in Altdorf.[3]

When a band of heroes obtained evidence of Yann's treachery they took it to Immanuel-Ferrand and Holzkrug, and both men recognised Zuntermein's handwriting. Holzkrug tried to settle the matter quietly by confronting Zuntermein alone and paid for it with his life. Immanuel-Ferrand on the other hand enlisted some allies from the Grey College and the heroes, before confronting Zuntermein which ended in the cultist's death.[3]
