Leopold Unfähiger reigned as the Emperor of Man directly following the reign of Magnus the Pious over the Empire. Prior to his election as emperor, he was the Elector Count of Stirland.[1a]

When Magnus the Pious died, the rule of the Empire would normally have passed to Magnus the Pious' brother, Gunthar von Bildhofen. However, because von Bildhofen, an Ulrican, made the mistake of antagonising the Grand Theogonist of Sigmar of the time, Leopold was elected emperor in his stead.

During Leopold's reign, the Imperial territories of the New Coast were founded in 2395 IC on the coastline of the Southlands, with the penal colony Leopoldheim being named after him.[2a]

Leopold's grandson was the infamous and incompetent Emperor Dieter IV.[1b]

Canon Conflict[]

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4th Edition: Altdorf - Crown of the Empire, establishes that he had a brother known as Prince Nicol.[3a] However, in the novel Genevieve Undead it establishes that Nicol, whose name is spelled "Nikol," lived in the late 25th century IC, being a member of House Holswig-Schliestein.[4a]

In early installment, his dynasty was called Krieglitz.[6a]
