"He was a god himself, ascended like the blasphemer, Kweethul the Vile!"

—The Skaven Grey Seer Thanquol, under the affects of Warpsnuff

Kweethul, also called Kweethul the Vile and Kweethul the Abominable, was a minor Chaos God of ruin and destruction that may have ascended to his godhood, though there is little else known about this entity.[3a][5a] Some scholars in the Old World believe that he is not a separate Chaos God, but is actually just another name for the Horned Rat, the minor Chaos God fervently worshipped by the Skaven.[5a]

Indeed, the Skaven -- the infamous Grey Seer Thanquol in particular -- are known to invoke this other being along with the name of their primary deity, the Horned Rat, suggesting they are in fact separate entities. Kweethul was said to be an infamous blasphemer as a mortal. Indeed, when he is invoked by the ratmen, it is often in the manner of an insult, damning individuals to the abyssal hell this deity calls home.[1a][2a]

Kweethul Gristlegut[]

It is possible that the Chaos God Kweethul and Kweethul Gristlegut, a once-mortal Skaven who gained apotheosis by unknown means to become an independent "Daemon god," are the same individual. Gristlegut was ten feet tall, winged, hunch-backed and had the head of a goat. He hated Humans and sought to ruin their civilisations whenever he could. Like a common Skaven, he favoured the underground.[4a][4b]

Kweethul Gristlegut had his own legions of Greater and Lesser Daemons. The Lesser Daemons included entities such as the Fire Runner, The Thing and the Floating Horror. His Greater Daemon was known as the Six-Eyed Slayer. [4a][4b]

Canon Conflict[]

Due to the age of the material concerning Kweethul Gristlegut, which dates back to the 1st Edition supplements for Warhammer Fantasy Battles, it is likely that subsequent mentions of Kweethul in later lore are only friendly nods to the early history of Warhammer and are not meant to be explored more deeply.
