"Hear lies Kharask the Second, King of Marrossa, Overlord of Teal. Our Protector in death, as he was in life"
- —Inscription on King Kharask II's tomb.[1a]
Kharask II, King of Marrossa and Overlord of Teal, was a Nehekharan priest-king who thousands of years ago was the ruler of the ancient towns of Tilea before the city-states that would later dominate the region came into existence.[1a][Note 1]
His tomb is adorned with gold roses, and more treasures are stored at the end of his vaulted hall. Inside the sarcophagus lies his mummy, ready to attack any tomb robber brave or fool enough to disturb his eternal resting place.[1a]
His skeletal hand once bore a golden ring set with five large diamonds on one of its fingers. Or at least this was until an Halfling Treasure Procurer Extraordinaire stole the ring and fled with his comrades. The destiny of these adventurers and of Kharask II remain shrouded in mystery.[1a]
Notes[]
Note 1: The information reported in the primary source for this character, Warhammer Quest: Catacombs of Terror, does not allow us to determine the exact identity of Kharask II, but by taking into account the information relating to the reign of King Amenemhetum the Great, it is very probable that he was a Tomb King.[2a]
The only peculiarity to suggest otherwise are the golden roses on his tomb, an iconographic attribute specifically of Morr, the god of the dead among the pantheon of the Old Gods.
Teal and Marrossa are mentioned by Verash, the Priest of Sigmar who narrates the story, as towns of ancient Tilea. However, the use of titles such as "Overlord of Teal" suggests that Teal and Marossa could have been the ancient names for Tilea and Sartosa, respectively. If that's the case, it would make Kharask II one of the successors of King Amenemhetum the Great, ruling over the respective territories sometime after the year -1200 IC.[1a][2a]
