"Was that what I was? A trap? Are all men traps, my lady? Is that why you could not accept what I offered you?"

—Khaled to Neferata.[1p]

Khaled al Muntasir was an Arabyian vampire hailing from the city of Bel Aliad.[1a]

In life, he was a collector of mystical objects and somewhat of a scholar.[1e]

History[]

Under the tutelage of Abhorash, Khaled learned the art of combat with sword and lance as a Kontoi, a Noble Rider, a distinction held only by the nobles of his city who donned bronze and iron armor and rode horses into battle.[1c]

In -1152 IC, Neferata assaulted Bel Aliad with her vampire handmaidens and desert tribes, meeting fierce resistance from the armored Konti. Khaled was part of a counter charge led by Abhorash, who impaled Neferata with a lance, saving Khaled from her grasp.[1d] Khaled then kept Neferata's paralyzed body in an ornate sarcophagus as a prize.[1e]

For nearly a year, she remained his captive until she mentally compelled him to free her, subsequently turning both Khaled and his sister into vampires, knowing his ambitions to become Caliph.[1f] A year later, as Neferata's power grew, Khaled introduced the Cult of Mordig, using the arcane artifacts obtained from them.[1h] However, Khaled's swift bid for control of the city led to a civil war. The commander of the Kontoi, Al-Khattab, struck back, prompting Neferata to retaliate by unleashing the Ghouls of the cult on her adversaries, elite members of which Khaled had trained to wield a tulwar. As the conflict engulfed the city, Arkhan the Black arrived, sealing its fate in destruction.[1j]

Fleeing with their mistress to Lashiek, Khaled was deeply affected by the devastation of his home—a city he had long planned to rule—unlike his sister.[1k]

In -1020 IC, the siblings accompanied Neferata on a slaving expedition to gather captives for their queen's new ally,[1n] the Dark Elf Corsair Captain Megara. Over the next century, they participated in numerous raids and diplomatic meetings with the Corsair.[1o]

In -800 IC, Khaled was among the five vampires who, with Neferata, rescued the Dwarf Thane Razek Silverfoot.[1a] Despite Khaled's desire to torture and kill him, they traveled with their maker to Mourkain. Neferata tasked him with infiltrating the personal guard of Ushoran to uncover their loyalties.[1b]

Khaled and Anmar fought in the defense of Mourkain in -600 IC against an Orc horde.[1g]

In -350 IC, after an assassination attempt, Ushoran imposed a curfew during which a group of W'soran's creations killed four of Neferata's handmaidens. Khaled and other guards intervened, but Anmar was taken prisoner.[1j]

In -327 IC, urged by the Crown of Nagash and the destruction of Alcadizzar's spirit, Neferata attempted to seize power from Ushoran. During the conflict, Khaled stabbed Neferata, enabling the Crown to dominate Ushoran.[1l]

After Neferata and Naaima breached the main door of Karaz Bryn, Khaled and Anmar led the initial assault. Khaled dueled briefly with King Borri Silverfoot before the Dwarfs retreated.[1m] Following a year-long siege, Khaled defied Neferata's orders by slaughtering Dwarf women and children seeking refuge, ensuring the Dwarfs would never surrender. Enraged, Neferata slew Khaled's companion Zandor and engaged him in combat. Amidst the struggle, Khaled fatally struck what he thought was an assailant, only to discover it was his sister, Anmar. Neferata impaled Khaled atop her remains.[1p] As further punishment, Neferata entombed him in an iron sarcophagus until -15 IC, when Arkhan arrived seeking aid in reclaiming his crown from Sigmar. Refusing to assist, Neferata offered Arkhan the imprisoned Khaled, who could create more of their kind.[1q]

Powers[]

As an ancient vampire, Khaled possessed extremely formidable abilities, including inhuman strength, speed, and resilience.[1]

Appearance[]

Slender and handsome, with hawk-like features, dark eyes, and a beard, Khaled typically carried a slim Arabyian blade.[1a]

Family[]

Khaled had a younger sister, Anmar bin Muntasir, who was ten years his junior, both born in the Caliph's harem.[1f] Both siblings were prone to impulsiveness and impatience, though Anmar was more self-aware of these traits.[1b]
