"To be considered 'befouled' by even the virulent hordes of Nurgle is a disgustingly impressive feat indeed."
- —Description of Kayzk from Total War: Warhammer III.[3]
Kayzk the Befouled
Kayzk the Befouled was a heavily mutated Kurgan Champion of Nurgle who had given much in the service of his god Nurgle, the Lord of Decay, and served as a war leader in the horde of Tamurkhan the Maggot Lord when it assaulted the Imperial city of Nuln in 2511 IC.
History[]
Kayzk the Befouled as rendered for Total War: Warhammer III.[2]
A bloodthirsty Chaos Knight of Nurgle dedicated to the cause of rot and ruin, Kayzk has given so much to the Plague God, not the least of which is his flesh, which is now a rotting, pestilent mass, robbed of form and feeling and untouched by pleasure or pain. Even should such feeling be possible, he could not give voice to it, for he has also given his voice, his vocal cords no more than an open wound. Not even his soul remains to him, for Kayzk offered it long ago to the Fly Lord as a trinket.[1a][3]
Kayzk the Befouled as rendered for Total War: Warhammer.[2]
Kayzk now stands as a living (if it can be called such) testament to the full horrors of Nurgle's blessings, earning him the epithet "the Befouled" by those of the Plaguelord's bleak faith. A mighty Chaos Champion in his own right, Kayzk came to command his own warband of Kurgan Marauder Horsemen, who followed his path of decay and became known as the "Rot Knights" for the fetid, half-Daemon Rot Beasts they rode into battle -- vile, mutilated creatures whose cancerous flesh rapidly wept pus over any wound they sustained, suturing them shut.[1a]
Concept art of Kayzk the Befouled created for Total War: Warhammer III.[2]
Kayzk the Befouled was one of the first to flock to the Chaos Lord Tamurkhan's banner, joining with the Maggot Lord in the Chaos Wastes and sweeping down through the lands of the Kurgan at his side, serving as Tamurkhan's chief lieutenant and master of his mounted troops. During the battle of the Black Pit before the gates of Nuln in 2511 IC, he is said to have fallen, not to the shot or sword of the Empire's defenders, but in the sorcerous fires unleashed by the Chaos Dwarf Sorcerer-Prophet Drazhoath as he led an ill-judged attack on the Dawi-Zharr's slave encampment to secure fresh sacrifices for his master's dark rites.[1a]
Wargear[]
- Sword of Filth - The meagre runts ignominiously cleaved in two by this plague-ridden blade will never know the defilement brought on by the debilitating wave of Nurgle's will... which may be a mercy to most![3]
- Icon of Decay - To each of his chieftains, most of who were also Chaos Champions, the Nurglish Chaos Lord Tamurkhan granted a powerful magical talisman to enhance their martial power, but also to yoke it to his own through Nurgle's immense will.[3]
