Karak Kaferkammaz ("Marble Layers Hold" in Khazalid) is the highest Dwarf hold in the Vaults.[1a]
The hold is ruled by King Skalf Redbeard, and earns a moderate amount of wealth from trade, ore mining and metalworking. Approximately 2,500 able-bodied adult Dwarfs live there.[1a]
Renowned for the rich marble quarries within its domain, Karak Kaferkammaz stands as the highest altitude of all the Dwai holds in the mountain range of The Vaults. Perched near the edge of a great escarpment, its watchtowers offer its sentries commanding views over the Loren Highway and the southern fringe of the forest of Athel Loren, enabling early detection of any large-scale enemy movements in the region.[2a]
This Dwarf kingdom is among the primary sources of marble in the Old World, and its stone is especially prized by Tilean sculptors for its quality and beauty. Owing to its great value, Dwarf merchants often transport massive blocks of marble through the Young Underway -- bypassing the treacherous and uneven surface routes -- until reaching Karak Eksfilaz. From there, the marble continues safely into Tilea via the Via Zaffiro.[2a]
Marble bound for Bretonnia is instead transported along the Marble Road (Kaferdrin in Khazalid), which leads to the Loren Highway and onward to Quenelles.[2a]

- Grung Wyruvalk - This is a silver mine owned and staffed by the Dwarfs of Karak Kaferkammaz.[1a]
- Mont Glace - A small Bretonnian Human town located near the Montdidier Pass and dedicated to agriculture, the produce of which is sold to the Dwarfs of Karak Kaferkammaz n return for the Humans' right to work the land.[1a]
