Kalgalanos the Black is the legendary father of dragons. It is said that his spawn were all the colours under the sun and that as a result, the hue of a dragon's scale goes beyond mere pigment. It is instead an indicator of a dragon's nature.[1a]
Kalgalanos was said to have a body larger than an Empire Greatship and a head larger than a house. No still living dragon has reached this proportions, though the Emperor Dragons come closest.[1a] It is believed that Kalgalanos now sleeps beneath the earth, with the mountains as his spine, waiting for the final day, when the Dragons will be roused from their slumber, and soar above the clouds once more.[2a]
Canon Conflict[]
The Dwarf Ancestor God Grimnir is said to have fought and killed the father of dragons, called Urmskaladrak in Khazalid, in -4650 IC.[3a]
The Elves call the father of dragonkind Draugnir, who was allegedly slain by Anath Raema in the beginning of time and his corpse used by Asuryan to construct Ulthuan.[4a]
Any relation, if it exists at all, between Kalgalanos and Krakanrok the Black, the father of dragon ogres who sleeps in anticipation of the End Times, is unknown.
