Kaleb Daark, Chaos Champion of Malal, the Renegade God
Kaleb Daark is a powerful Chaos Champion and one of the only known Champions of the minor Chaos God Malal, one of the "doomed ones."
Kaleb was the only survivor of a Chaos attack on the city he lived in. He witnessed the Chaos Warriors murder his parents in an atrocious and savage manner. But when the Warriors of Chaos went on their next plundering raid, the god Malal appeared to Daark and offered a deal: if he consented to worship the Dark God, Malal would be Daark's protector and allow him to take revenge upon those who had killed his loved ones. Kaleb accepted and armed with the Chaos artefact called the Dreadaxe given to him by Malal, became over time a great terror to the mortal followers of the four major Chaos Gods.
Game History[]
Malal was a minor Chaos God originally created for the 1980s Warhammer comic book series that featured a Malalite Chaos Champion named Kaleb Daark, for which a miniature and tabletop wargame rules were later provided. Kaleb Daark was most famous for his signature weapon, the Dreadaxe.
Due to a problem with the copyright for the character, which belonged to the authors rather than Games Workshop, Malal was largely excised from Warhammer canon by the company and later replaced with the minor Chaos Gods Zuvassin and Necoho. Malal was reintroduced in Warhammer 40,000 under the name Malice.
