Jurno Esparo was a king of Estalia who reigned long ago.[1a]
History[]
King Jurno Esparo was regarded as an eccentric due to his ambitious but ultimately impractical project -- the creation of the Valley of Windmills in the Abasko Mountains. Intended as a means to sustain his people, the valley was filled with hundreds of windmills. However, the effort was abandoned, as the valley's location rendered it unsuitable for habitation or long-term use, leaving the windmills to decay over time.[1a]
These days it is said that insidious Skaven inhabit the windmills, and are rebuilding them for some dark purpose.[1a]
Trivia[]
Don Jurno Esparo and his Valley of Windmills are both references to Don Quixote, a seventeenth century Spanish novel by Miguel de Cervantes, whose titular character, the deranged Don Quixote, believed he was a knight fighting evil giants, when in fact he was charging windmills.
