Jeremiah Tusk fighting the undead.
Scourge of the Tilean Sea, Jeremiah Tusk was the legendary pirate captain of the dark green hulled Lightning Tree, a massive brig.[1a]
A throwback to the old days of high adventure. By far the oldest pirate master still operating, Tusk had begun his career in the days when the likes of Ezra Banehand and Metto Matez were still scouring the sea. He was a pirate lord in the old sense of the phrase, and so much more than that. A traveller, and an explorer too, he had in his time been to all points of the compass, and on occasions served as a privateer for Tilean lords, Estalian marquises and even, it was said, Arabyan despot. He had opened trade routes, found new passages, and been the first man of the Old World to set foot on some alien shores.[1a]
He was Nicholas DeGrutti and Luka Silvaro’s friend. More of a companion than a friend with Luka, but they were bonded in blood and had worked together many times, as comrades in arms, during their adventure Luka saved his life three times, and that's something he likes to tell him every time he needs a favour.[1a]
Among his rich collection of rare treasures there is the Bite of Daagon, the rune inscribed tooth of a Daagon. Won from a corsair in an action off Copher is a potent talisman against the devils of the water.[1a]
Jeremiah Tusk had set sail for his Cross with his crew, and he was the first such captain that Luka Silvaro had ever known to retire this way.[1b] He died fighting against the Butcher Ship, leaving the map for his cross to Luka.[1c]
Appearance[]
Once tall and slender, now slightly hunched over with age, he walks with the aid of a narwhal horn which he uses as a staff, the lines of his face were deep, marked by time.[1a]
He wears a long black coat, calico pants, and a white lace shirt. His long hair was slicked back, also marked by the whiteness of time.[1a]
In place of his right hand she has a large hook made from a walrus tooth.[1a]
