"Pass me another Itxi grub."
- —Last words of Lord Ztlocutec to his chief attendant, the Skink Priest Xhili'Zkuki[1a]

An Ixti grub native to Lustria
Itxi grubs are rare and uniquely magical creatures imbued with Aethyric energy which are the juvenile, larval form of the adult Itxi beetle and are native to Lustria. The beetles' grubs are sizable larvae, reaching a maximum of seven inches in length, that live in the earth and absorb magical energy as they grow. Though their mandibles look intimidating, they are not physically dangerous. They are notable, however, for the concentrations of magical energy they contain, energy that may be utilised by anyone who eats them.[3a]
A wizard can carry a gourd containing dried Ixti Grubs which have absorbed magical power from the ground. When they eat them, they gain the magical energy the grubs have absorbed, allowing them to extend their ability to cast spells beyond what would normally be possible. Itxi grubs are often used by Lizardmen spellcasters to enhance their magical abilities.[1b]
Another variant of the Itxi grubs are the Xtchoc grubs who are present in the region near the temple-city of Tlax.[2a]
