The Isle of Grief is an accursed and Daemon-haunted island located far to the south of the city-state of Vedenza at the very tip of the Carvorna Archipelago.[1a]
The intelligence of the Council of Tears that rules the city of Vedenza indicated that this was the main lair of the Skaven clans that sought to make war against the Principality of Tobaro during the War of Beasts.[1a]
Howling Abyss[]
Half-flooded at high tide the Howling Abyss is a vast sea cavern located on the Isle of Greif. It is large enough for an entire keep to be fitted within, and possesses a great, domed, rock roof that covers it like a starless sky.
Long before the coming of Men, before even the time of the Elves, something built a temple there and its age-despoiled remains lingered, or at least this is what the few, half-mad, shipwrecked sailors that escaped from the Howling Abyss reported over the years.[1a]
At the cavern's centre stands a great monolith of green-black basalt graven with writings and pictographs that no one could interpret. At night, according to legend, the monolith is replaced by a slash of utter darkness, a rip in the fabric of the mortal world that moans with the voices of the damned, giving the cavern its name.[1a]
Wizards that come to the Howling Abyss can feel a vortex of magical energies so powerful that it leaves no doubts that many of the stories that circulate about the island are true.[1a]
