"In battle, once the fighting starts, he is always far too busy slaying his enemies and has no time to lead the army!"

—Tzar Igor the Terrible.[2a]

Igor the Terrible was a tsar of Kislev whose reign is remembered as a dark legend amongst the people of that realm. He was perhaps the most feared Kislevite tzar of all time, for his acknowledged great intelligence and courage were unfortunately also tainted by an unreasoning rage and paranoia.

History[]

Igor was known for many bloody acts. He ordered the infamous beheading of the boyars of the Melnikov family, killing almost every single member, for he had a dream that a young man named Melnikov toppled his kingdom. The taxes he assessed upon the poor people of Kislev were enormous and were ruthlessly collected by his cruel servants.[2a]

Thousands died during Igor the Terrible's reign. Igor, however, was a mighty warrior and was never defeated in battle. He was a great military innovator and without his organisation of the Kislevite army, Kislev might today be a part of the Realm of Chaos.[2a]

Igor was also renowned for being extremely paranoid. He felt that he needed to be kept safe both day and night from possible assailants. As a result of this paranoia, he formed the Kreml Guard, the Kislevite tzar's elite bodyguard and the guardians of the royal Bokha Palace. The Kreml Guard still endures today and is one of the few remnants of Igor's rule that remains.[1a]

Wargear[]

  • Bloodedge - Bloodedge is the dreaded magic sword that Koshei the Immortal made to be the bane of the Greenskins. Unfortunately, its wielder gained some of the madness of its maker, which explained the personality change in Tzar Igor the Terrible of Kislev when he was the blade's owner. He began to suffer from an uncontrollable thirst for the blood of his enemies -- real or imagined.

Trivia[]

Igor is likely based on the real-life first tzar of Russia, Ivan IV Vasilyevich, better known in the West as "Ivan the Terrible," although his Russian byname, Ivan Grozny, is more accurately translated into English as "Ivan the Fearsome."

Ivan Valeriki Kolarabinikov, the duke of Praag, is another Kislevite character created as a reference to Ivan the Terrible, although unlike Igor he does not resemble the real-life Russian monarch nor his stereotypical image.[3a]
