A Hochland Long Rifle
The Hochland Long Rifle is a rifled handgun with a long range created in Hochland by Leon Todmeister. Few foes have fallen into the sights of a sniper armed with a Hochland Long Rifle and lived to tell the tale.[1a]
History[]

A Hochland Master Engineer armed with a Hochland Long Rifle.
Known properly as "Leon Todmeister's Fantabulously Far-reaching Harquebus of Unforeseeable and Unperceived Bereavement," this firearm has become the bane of enemy generals and unit commanders, its firer being able to single them out even within a regiment of troops thanks to the excellent precision and magnifying telescopic apparatus mounted on the barrel.[2a]
The Hochlanders are suitably proud of the invention and have often put it to good use, the design having been derived from the accurate weapons used by the hunters of the province. When the provincial capital of Hergig was threatened by a sudden attack of massed Goblin tribes, sharpshooting engineers on the highest towers targeted the Goblin leaders with the biggest profusion of banners and feathers, as well as aiming for the eyes of the Arachnarok Spider that spearheaded the assault. The enemy quickly fell into disarray, and were soundly beaten when a relief force arrived from the nearby count's castle.[2a]
Developed by Leon Todmeister after witnessing how accurate the long rifle employed by the huntsmen of Hochland could be, this intricate long musket is carried by some engineers to prove they are more than mere scholars; that they fully embrace the purpose for which the majority of their creations are developed. The range of the "improved" weapon is greater than a normal handgun thanks to a spiralling groove on the inside of the barrel, and a complex arrangement of lenses and sights that allow the shooter to pick out targets that would normally be too small to be shot a with any degree of accuracy. Todmeister himself claimed to be able to hollow out a gold piece at a range of up to four hundred yards, though tales abound of how his valet was said to carry a purse full of pre-holed coins.[2a]
Regardless of Todmeister's skill with the rifle, in the hands of a skilled marksman, the Hochland Long Rifle is a feared weapon, with no enemy safe from the lead bullet of an Imperial sharpshooter.[2a]
Hochland Long Rifles[]

The Hochland Long Rifles, depicted here in Total War: Warhammer III, are among the most skilled and lethal of Imperial handgunner units.
The Hochland Long Rifles are those Imperial regiments of handgunners who have been outfitted and trained to use a Hochland Long Rifle. Imperial armies can double down on their use of blackpowder-armed missile troops with these Hochlanders and their rifled firearm crafted by the Master Engineer Leon Todmeister himself.
This precise Hochland Long Rifle, or to give it its full title, "Leon Todmeister's Fantabulously Far-reaching Harquebus of Unforeseeable and Unperceived Bereavement," is widely hated by those that have not had the privilege to use it or have become targets for its use.
Able to single out generals and other enemy commanders from far away, no one on the wrong end of this handgun's barrel is truly safe, and with a sword hanging at the belt of its users in case their line is broken, a unit of this missile infantry finds an important place amongst the Imperial military's growing taste for the use of firearms as a primary infantry armament.
