Helmstedt was a small village located in the Imperial Grand Province of Solland during the Skaven Wars of the early 12th century IC that lay along the River Sol. The town's economy revolved around agriculture as there were many farms and granaries there. The buildings of Helmstedt flanked either side of the river, defining its boundaries far more than the edging of riverstones some long-ago reeve had ordered erected at its edges. Collecting the stones from the River Sol was a tradition in the village.
During the Skaven Wars, Helmstedt was spared most of the effects of the Black Death, but it eventually spread among the town's people due to their trade with Pfeildorf. The Skaven, working with an insane priest of Sigmar, took control of the town and proceeded to enslave or eat all of its inhabitants.
