Helldrakes are reptilian relatives of Sea Dragons and are among the monsters tamed and used in battle by the Dark Elves.
Helldrakes live in large numbers in the Boiling Sea. Smaller than Sea Dragons, they are far more ferocious, combining the ferocity of a wolverine with razor sharp claws and fangs capable of biting through the thickest steel. They are controlled by a small crew of specially trained Druchii beast-handlers that are the only ones capable of controlling the savage creatures.[1a]
Helldrakes are used to pull Dark Elven Doomreaver towers. Helldrakes are so fierce that they will attack anything that is not of their own pack. All the Doomreavers in a squadron are pulled by Helldrakes raised from the same clutch of eggs, but even they will sometimes attack each other in the fervour of battle.[2a]
