Hellbrandt Grimm[2]
Hellbrandt Grimm is widely regarded as one of the most feared mercenaries ever to stalk the Empire of Man and the Border Princes. He served the rulers of that anarchic land.[1a][4]
Tall and hard-eyed, his grim face speaks of a man who has long since made peace with death—so long as it isn't his own. Killing, for Grimm, is not just a trade but a sport. It's said he once cut down four men alone, even when outnumbered and surrounded.[1a]

Less known, however, are the tales that swirl around his past -- stories cloaked in shadow and whispered more often than spoken aloud. One rumour claims his scarred face bears the mark of a three-fanged Daemon. Others insist it was burned into him when he was just a child, enslaved by Orcs who branded him as property. That warboss, so the tale goes, saw something in the boy -- kept him not as meat, but as entertainment. Grimm was forced to fight other captives for survival. He didn't just endure; he thrived, driven by a savage will. In the end, he escaped, leaving a dagger buried in the heart of his Greenskin captor.[1a]
Not everyone believes this version of his past. Some scoff at the idea, arguing that Orcs would never keep a Human child alive unless they were planning to eat him.[1a]
Grimm once crossed blades with the infamous Tilean assassin, Liliana Falcone, in defence of a client -- paymaster Enrico Cassari -- and defeated her. He fought not for loyalty, but for coin, and when the contract was fulfilled, he left Cassari to his fate in Wolfenburg. There Liliana, who survived her encounter with Grimm, killed Cassari, this time without being hindered by the mercenary.[3]
