Kraka Drak Total War Warhammer

Banner of Kraka Drak, long the seat of the Great King of the Norse Dwarfs, as depicted in Total War: Warhammer.

The great king, formally the Great King of the Norse Dwarfs, is the Dwarf who is the ruling monarch of the Norse Dwarfs of Norsca and also the king of Kraka Drak, formerly the largest and wealthiest of the Dwarfs' Norscan holds before its destruction by the forces of Chaos led by Valmir Aesling.[1a]

Duties[]

Every year on 33 Fornsdrak (Vorgeheim in the Imperial Calendar) the Great King of the Norse Dwarfs presides over the Guzulmor Grungni, or "Feast of Grungni," and the Throngim Gromthi, the Althing of the Ancestors. Dwarfs come to the Althing from all across Norsca to discuss matters of importance and settle disputes. The Althing is very important to the Norse Dwarfs, as it allows them a forum in which to discuss any threat from the Chaos-worshipping Norscans to their hearth and home.[1a]

Notable Great Kings[]

  • Silverbeard - Silverbeard was the previous Great King of the Norse Dwarfs, killed in 2302 IC[3a] by an avalanche designed to seal off Kraka Drak from the invading army of Valmir Aesling at the end of the Battle of Icicle Pass. Unfortunately, the Warriors of Chaos were already inside the hold, and spent nine decades[3a] slaughtering the surviving Norse Dwarfs within.[2a]

Canon Conflict[]

Both the Great War Against Chaos and the Battle of Icicle Pass took place in 2302 IC. It appears unlikely that Kraka Drak managed to send an army to help save Kislev and then go on to reestablish ties with the rest of the Karaz Ankor while defending a decades-long underground siege against the Chaos Warriors of Valmir Aesling.
