Warhammer Gerik Barkov

Gerik Barkov, younger brother of Prince Yuri Barkov, as depicted in Total War: Warhammer III.

Gerik Barkov was the younger brother of the Ungol Prince Yuri Barkov, and Yuri's closest advisor during the Kislevite expedition the prince commanded that was sent into the Northern Wastes by Tzarina Katarin Bokha to discover why the bear god Ursun had not yet roared and brought an end to Kislev's endless winter.[1a]

Throughout Yuri's troubled journey north, Gerik proved to be a voice of reason within the expedition, cautioning his brother to avoid the many perils that confronted them on their mission. Gerik was not fooled when the darkness of Chaos corruption began to overwhelm his brother, and in desperation he tried to turn Yuri back towards sanity.[1a]

Yet to reach Yuri's goal of discovering Ursun's fate, a steep price had to be paid. Good and loyal Gerik, who continued to trust Yuri when others would not, protected him when others could not, was slain by the hands of the one whom he loved and cared for the most to assure his ascent to power. With his death, Yuri Barkov's damnation was complete and his eventual transformation into the Daemon Prince of Chaos Undivided known as Godslayer following his betrayal by the first Daemon Prince Be'lakor was inevitable.

Gerik Barkov acts as the advisor for the prologue campaign for Total War: Warhammer III, teaching the player the basics of the mechanics of the campaign map and real-time battles.
