"The swiftly-propagating flames of Fire Rain Rockets more than make up for their undependable accuracy."

Concept art of a Fire Rain Rocket battery created for Total War: Warhammer III.[1]

A Fire Rain Rocket Battery is a rocket launcher that sprays the battlefield with deadly, explosive projectiles. A Fire Rain Rocket Battery is the ultimate in artillery for the armies of Grand Cathay. Vital for pitched battles as well as taking or defending settlements, their rockets are equally effective against almost all targets and the arc of their fire easily penetrates enemy walls. While the impact is widespread at long-range, this is only more effective against massed legions of enemies. Fire Rain Rockets' range is inferior to the fire of the Cathayan Grand Cannon, but they pack far more firepower.[1]

Rocket launchers are used extensively in the armies of Grand Cathay. Inaccurate but deadly, they hurl explosives long distances, usually in great numbers to saturate an entire area in flame and shrapnel, but are equally able to deliver single, massive rockets against monsters or fortifications. Cathayan artillery pieces have a higher than usual number of support staff on-hand, making them that much harder to wipe out if caught. [4a]

The Fire Rain Rocket Battery is a portable war machine, drawn into position by Cathayan Oxen and crewed by soldiers from the city of Nan-Gau in the Northern Provinces. From its snarling Cathayan Dragon mouth, it fires either a hail of incendiary rockets to set a section of the battlefield alight, or a larger, lone explosive able to blast a hole in enemy formations or enemy strongholds' walls.[4a]

Inspired by a fireworks display from a Cathayan emissary to Altdorf, the Imperial School of Engineers created a similar weapon to the Fire Rain Rocket Battery, the Helstorm Rocket Battery, which is used by the Western Human Empire.[2a][3a]
